The Feedmill Project

Recently, our painting group decided to paint and sketch a  picturesque feed mill on the South Farms of the University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign Il before the building is torn down. We agreed that each of us would do one or two paintings from different angles, different lighting, and different media. This project inspired a show which will take place at the Springer Center in Champaign February 2020.

A new painting and a little summer news

Mary Emmons did a stunning watercolor of our fearless leader and hostess of the painting group, Peggy Walklet. Here it is (thank you, Mary!):

Ann Rund's painting of "Onions" is on exhibit at the Giertz Gallery in the juried exhibit "Illinois at 200." Hurray for Ann!

A recent News Gazette article on The Gilbert Gallery in Urbana mentions Sarah Wisseman's paintings.

A wonderful I-phone app "Waterlogue" turns photos into watercolors. Here are Sarah and Mary:

Parkland Art Gallery Alumnae Show

I was delighted to have my encaustic painting selected for this show, which included a book piece by husband Charlie.
Other painters from our Country Bend Painters, Jenny Barrett, Ann Rund, and Sandy Hynds also have paintings in the show!

Opening Reception September 2, 2016

We had a fantastic turnout, thanks to good publicity and the beginning of First Fridays in Urbana:

Here's the wall that was incomplete the day we installed:

This image includes Peggy's portraits, "Pear Trio II" by Birute, and "Under the Kitchen cabinet" by Mary.

And Melissa Merli did a nice writeup of Jenny Barrett!

The show will be open through October 15 at the Community Center for the Arts in Urbana (corner of Race and Main Sts.)

Hanging our First Group Show

(Jenny, Mary, Sandy, Sarah, Peggy, Birute, Ann)

Today we hung the paintings for our show at the Community Center for the Arts in Urbana for our opening this Friday, September 2, 2016,  5-7 pm. The show will be up Sept 1-Oct 15.

C4A is a great location with lots of light, and installation is a breeze because we used S-hooks instead of hammers and nails:
